Havana Film Festival
Celebrates its 30th Anniversary
Las Tunas,
Cuba, Nov 30, (P26).- The 30th edition of the
Havana’s International New Latin American Film
Festival
begins December
2-12.
In his
announcement
calling
artists and intellectuals,
festival’s president
Alfredo Guevara
summarized the considerable losses caused by three
devastating hurricanes on the economic
infrastructure and the population, adding that
“whatever is available” will be destined to the
Festival.
Despite these
special circumstances, the Havana movie gathering
that is marking its 30th anniversary this year has
to fulfill its historical mission and continue the
founding work of those that preceded it in Viña del
Mar as well as other such film encounters from the
region, trying to unite, in a brotherly exchange,
filmmakers from the Americas and other latitudes,
Guevara said.
The festival’s
president highlighted that the possibility of a
better world has to emerge from that brotherhood
among people in the movie world, where “every work
that exercises or awakens sensibility in the rescue
of human condition in all of its wealth and
complexity, will always be a valuable contribution
so that that dream of un-alienation and un-banality
may become true.”
