Cuban Antiterrorists Cause
Echoes in US
WASHINGTON.- The support for the cause of the
Five Cuban antiterrorists prisoner in United
States for more than 11 years ago, is finally
finding echoes in this country, Alicia Jrapko,
coordinator of the International Committee for
the freedom of the Five in the US, assured
PL when explaining the results of the
recently concluded 4th National Latino Congress,
in El Paso, Texas.
Those who live here, she pointed out, know how
difficult it is to influence public opinion,
especially if it is about a topic like this,
which has been silenced by the government from
the very beginning.
She
said that it is a difficult task, because the
topic is still almost unknown for most Americans,
due, principally, to the media gag that has been
imposed.
Jrapko explained that an example of the progress
made is the Latino meeting, which her Committee
has attended in its last three annual gatherings.
On
this occasion, she said, the delegates approved
a group of resolutions, as well as amendments to
others already sanctioned in previous years,
included one on The Five and one referring to
Luis Posada Carriles, both supported unanimously.
The
first resolution calls for the sending of a
letter to President Barack Obama, in which they
demand the freedom of Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio,
Fernando and René.
She
explained that the missive also points out that,
until that happens, the current US
administration should grant visas to Adriana
Pérez and Olga Salanueva to visit their husbands.
