Solidarity with Cuban Five in Vietnam
Hanoi, Sept 25, (RHC).—
Journalists, diplomats and solidarity friends
discussed on Friday in Hanoi the case of the
five Cuban political prisoners incarcerated in
the US for fighting terrorism during a round
table that was held at the Vietnam-Cuba
Friendship Association.
A documentary on the
Cuban Five was shown before the discussion
among the participants with information on the
unjust
sentencing of Gerardo, Rene, Fernando,
Antonio and Ramon who had infiltrated extreme
right wing Cuban American groups in Miami.
The Cuban Five were arrested in 1998 and
sentenced three years later in Miami with prison
terms that surpass four life sentences for
attempting to stop terrorist actions against the
Cuban people.
Opening the discussion was Nguyen Duy Cuong,
Vice President of the Association calling on the
solidarity with the five Cubans and demanded the
immediate release of the five by the US
government.
