Alarcon Demands an End to Harassment of Iran and North Korea

Geneva.- Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon called on Monday for an end to the harassment and menaces to Iran and North Korea, and the completion of "the objectives of the Millennium Goals, as well as other forgotten promises," reports EFE.

"The menaces against Iran, because of its nuclear program, must cease," said Alarcon during his address to the Third World Conference of Parliament Presidents, which is taking place in Geneva.

Alarcon also demanded "an end to threats" to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and claimed "justice" for the Palestinian people.

"I call for recognition of the inalienable right of Palestine to independence, as well as an end to the colonial occupation of Puerto Rico and Western Sahara," he said.

He also urged the United States to "free from its jails" the Five Cuban anti-terrorists.

"The UN Security Council," he warned "only serves to approve wars and perpetuate the capitalist hegemony."

"We are in the midst of a deep crisis which is affecting all aspects of the reality. Senseless wars are spreading, the destruction of the environment is accelerating, and those suffering from hunger, ignorance and preventable diseases are increasing. All of this as a consequence of an unjust international system subjected to the greed and selfishness of a few," said the President of the Cuban Parliament.
