UNESCO’
Executive Council President
to Arrive in Cuba

The president of
UNESCO’s
Executive Council, Olabiyi
Babaloia Joseph Yai is
expected to arrive in Cuba
Sunday. Mr Yai and his
accompanying delegation will
remain in the country until
June19th.
Joseph Yai
who is also Benin’s
Ambassador and Permanent
Delegate to UNESCO will be
accompanied by his personal
assistant Edmond Moukala and
by UNESCO head of the
International Dialogue
Section of the agency Ali
Moussa Iye, according to
sources at the National
Cultural Heritage Council.
On June 16
the visitors will attend the
official inauguration of the
Cuban Museum of the Slave
Route and an Afro American
exhibition named The Third
Root. They will then tour
the historical part of the
central city of Matanzas and
the Triumvirate Historical
Site.
The latter
one makes reference to the
sugar plantation where the
first slave revolt in the
country took place back in
November 1843. Today there
stands a monument in memory
of the historical event.
Joseph Yai
and his delegation will also
visit places of interest in
the Cuban capital such as
the International Film and
Television School, the
Center for African and
Middle Eastern Studies, the
National Museum of Fine Arts,
the Latin American School of
Medicine and the Africa
House.
