Cubans Reject Offences
by the European Parliament
How long are
they going to behave like our metropolis?
European
deputies were much more worried about sending a message to
satisfy the US government than about human rights, which
explains the resolution condemning Cuba. Appalling events
take place in different parts of the world every day,
including Europe and nobody seems to care about them. How
long are they going to continue behaving as if they were our
metropolis? Yeneisis Fuerte Tabares, BANDEC economist
specialist in Pinar del Río)
Putting on a
media show
The
European Parliament must look at itself before criticizing
others. Prisoners were taken to secret prisons precisely in
those countries from the so-called cultured Europe. It is in
Europe where the violation of human rights to immigrants and
poor people is an every-day fact. Big mainstream companies
are trying to put on a media show with manipulated puppets
who have gone on a hunger strike in order to attract
people’s attention and play along with the enemy. However,
they are undermining the work by Cuban doctors who are doing
their best to provide free healthcare in more than a hundred
countries. (Yudenis Monteagudo, worker in La Romagnola
restaurant in Ciego de Ávila)
The World
Knows Cuba
"It
is true that harassment has always been present, mainly
toward the Cuban sport s teams. However, the entire world
knows us and sees us as what we really are: a successful
country where every Cuban is fighting against manipulation,
wars and hegemonic power by giving their best contribution
at work, being supportive and humanitarian. ".(Juan Carlos
Gala, Women Volleybal Team´s technical director)
We´ll never accept an offence like this one
"There
has ever been a fairer society than ours. Those who condenm
us nowadays know that all Cubans have the same rights, as
well as access to healthcare (even those trying to tarnish
the Cuban Revolution). So, we have thousands of doctors and
nurses providing thousands of people worldwide with life,
happiness and health. Due to all the above mentioned and
many other reasons, Cubans will never accept an offence like
that of the European Parliament". (Bienvenido José Mantilla,
a man awarded by his relevant work in the enterprise of
beverages and soft drinks in Las Tunas)
They have no
moral right to condemn us
Those
who stayed in silence about the USA’s torture in Iraq have
no right to condemn us. They should follow the example of
Cuba, a country which, instead of sending soldiers to kill,
sends doctors to save people’s lives as in the recent case
of Haiti. The mercenaries paid by the USA and its leaders
know that the Cuban people will never surrender. No campaign
in the world will ever make us give in. (Nélida Cabrera,
housewife, Villa Clara)
Cuba: An
example of respect for the complete dignity of people.
"The
European Parliament’s condemnation against Cuba is totally
unjust. Cuba’s penitentiary system is characterized by its
humanity. It is an example of respect towards the dignity
and the integrity of the prisoners and prosecuted. The point
is that those against the Cuban Revolution are just looking
for an opportunity to try to tarnish Cuba’s prestige and its
social process. If there is a country in the whole world
which really has a program to re-educate its prisoners and
reinsert them into society, it is Cuba, and Fidel played a
leading role in the creation and implementation of this
program. . (Msc José Luis Garcés Pérez, head district
attorney of fiscal verifications, Provincial District
Attorney’s Office in the eastern province of Granma)
They have no
authority to accuse us.
Neither
the European Parliament nor any other entity is in a
position to condemn Cuba which has historically shown
respect towards human dignity, and has cared for the well
being of its inhabitants or any person in need worldwide.
Those who have allowed a foreign power to capture and
torture their own citizens have no moral right to condemn
Cuba, which has been attacked and blockaded for over half a
century by the biggest world power. (Julio M. Llanes, writer
from the central province of Sancti Spíritus, and author of
over a dozen of books for kids, adolescent and adults).
