The Prime Minister of Laos, Bouasone Bouphavanh, said in Havana on Tuesday that the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the government and the people of his country are working to strengthen the ties of friendship and collaboration with Cuba.

During a reception held on Tuesday morning at the Cuban Friendship Institute in the Cuban capital, the guest said it is an honor to visit the island and thanked Cuba for its collaboration since the times of war, in which it sent doctors to treat the Laotian population.

This help continues today and increases to other fields, as well as the training of human resources, he said.

Dr. Julio Lopez, who was part of the first group of Cuban doctors that worked in Laos in 1973, said that they had made their own the cause of friendship between the peoples of Laos and Cuba.

The gathering was presided over by Commander Faure Chomon, president of the Cuban Parliament’s Friendship with Laos Group; Kenia Serrano, president of ICAP, and Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez and other officials.
