President of the National Assembly of Suriname Visits Cuba

Havana, Nov 4, (RHC).- The visiting President of the Surinamese National Assembly Slamet Somohardjo laid a floral wreath before the monument to Cuba’s National Hero José Martí at Havana’s Revolution Square.

The visiting dignitary also toured the Memorial named after Martí, Granma newspaper reports.

Somohardjo met with officials at the Foreign Relations Office of the Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee and with Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon, with whom he talked about topics of common interest.

The visitor’s agenda also includes meetings with the commission for the attention of local bodies of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Cuban Parliament) and with officials at the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Investment, as well as visits to Havana’s Latin American School of Medicine and the Carlos J. Finlay Institute.

Somohardjo expressed his interest in learning more about the life of Argentine-Cuban legendary guerrilla commander Ernesto (Che) Guevara, whom he said he admired since he was very young.
