The Year of Preparation for the Defense Kickss off in Las Tunas

Las Tunas, Cuba, Feb 5, (P26).- A new year of preparation for the defense began in the military region of this eastern Cuban province.

Dexterity in melee combat, martiall gait, and upper domain of technology and weaponry are the main goals in defense preparedness in the various categories of troops.

"Sweat pours in combat readiness, it's blood saved in combat," said Army General Raúl Castro, so the effort to successfully accomplish each objective.

During the ceremony, two girls -officials of the Young communist League- who completed their term of incorporation into the Revolutionary Army forces were upgraded; and the most outstanding in fulfilling  their tasks were recognized.

Teresa Amarelle Boué, president of the Provincial Defense Council,  highlighted the progress of the region in the accomplishment of all missions, especially in the strategic exercise Bastion 2009, while she called ato make 2010, another year of victories and results in preparation for combat and defense in general.

Also accompanied the First Secretary of the Party in the territory, Victor Rodriguez Carballosa, vice president of the Provincial Defense Council; Brigadier General Rolando Gomez Calderon, chief of the Military Region and other leaders of the Armed Forces and of political and mass organizations.
