Teofilo Stevenson and
Sporstpeople Delegation
Tours Hurricane-Hit Areas in Eastern Cuba
LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Nov 22.- Teofilo Stevenson,
three-time Olympic and World Super Heavyweight Champion,
toured Eastern Cuba’s areas that were affected in the
last months by hurricanes Paloma and Ike.
Stevenson, one of the only three boxers in the world to
win three titles
at Olympic Games, along Cuban Felix Savon and Hungarian
Lazlo Papp, was accompanied in this tour by another
legendary Cuban boxer, Jose Gomez, Moscow Olympic
Champion.
These two sport stars travelled along a
sportspeople delegation, talking to the residents in
this region, finding out about the current stage of
repairs and bringing hope to the victims of the meteors.
This delegation visited the eastern Las Tunas
municipalities Jesus Menendez and Puerto Padre, severely
battered in September by Hurricane ŽIke, and Guayabal
coastal town in Amancio municipality.
