Right-Wing Groups in U.S. Linked to Military Coup in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, July 3, (RHC-acn).- Direct links between extreme right-wing groups in the United States with those who carried out Sunday's military coup against constitutionally-elected Honduran President Manuel Zelaya have been exposed by a Honduran organization.

In a statement issued in Tegucigalpa, the “Organización Fraternal Negra Hondureña” (Honduran Black Fraternal Organization), OFRANEH, points out that the involvement of U.S. extreme right groups, like the Arcadia Foundation is undeniable.

The Honduran group revealed that Otto Reich, U.S. Under Secretary of State for West Hemisphere Affairs during the George W. Bush administration, is connected to the Arcadia Foundation.

OFRANEH accused Reich of heading misinformation and sabotage operations, with close ties to international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles and the Cuban-American mafia in Miami.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the Arcadia Foundation began a low-intensity war in 2006 against members of the Zelaya administration.

The information from Tegucigalpa reveals that large sums of money were sent to the so-called Movimiento Paz y Democracia (Peace and Democracy
Movement) through the U.S. Aid for International Development (USAID) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), both U.S. agencies with a long history of intervention in the internal affairs of countries around the world.
