Venezuela Warns of Dilatory Maneuvers in Honduras

Caracas, Nov 7, (PL).- Venezuela's ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Roy Chaderton, warned that dilatory maneuvers are in progress in Honduras to cheat the international community.

In statements to Telesur, Chaderton warned that the purpose of those behind those dilatory tactics is to gain time with view to the coming November 29 elections.

The diplomat held that they are avoiding the restitution of Manuel Zelaya or do it at the last minute, or later in January right before the elected president is to take power. "So, we reach the conclusion that nothing has happened," he said.

Chaderton termed absurd to push ahead an alectoral process with candidates who took part and supported the military coup and a dictatorship as if it were a democratic government, and the OAS is pinning hope at the fantasy that one of them will take power and will solve the problem.

On another issue, the Venezuelan representative also accused the United States government of having placed an aircraft carrier in the heart of the Latin American continent under protection of an agreement that allows US soldiers to use seven bases in Colombia. "From these bases they can spy on Latin American countries and try to disrupt social movements, he said."

According to Chaderton, US diplomacy has been designed by the Defense Department and the intelligence institutions regardless of their ignorance about the realities of our continent and in some countries in particular.
