Hondurans
Unwavering, Talks Pause
Tegucigalpa, Oct 10,
(PL).-
Honduran people's forces have reached Saturday
their 105th consecutive day of anti-coup
struggles, amid a state of siege even during the
dialogue to solve the current dangerous
political crisis in the country.
Juan Barahona, general coordinator of the
National Front against the Coup d'état, stated
that a demonstration would take place on
Saturday in the populated neighborhood of Hato
de Enmedio, in the outer area of the capital.
Since constitutional guarantees were suspended
on September 26, strong contingents of riot
police and army soldiers have repressed
resistance' rallies.
The issue of repression was analyzed Friday,
during the third day of talks by representatives
of Constitutional President Manuel Zelaya, who
was removed from office on June 28, when the
military coup was perpetrated.
Barahona, one of Zelaya's delegates, said on
Friday night that they demanded that the de
facto government representatives ended the
current state of siege and repression against
resistance.
They also demanded that putschists reopened
Radio Globo station and television channel 36
Cholusar Sur, the capital's only two media
covering the anti-coup rallies.
The parties also announced Friday night that
they had discussed 60 percent of the issues,
although Barahona stressed that the main problem
of the negotiation, which is Zelaya's
restitution, has not been accepted by
representatives from the de facto government. |
