The territory maintains intact its prevention mechanisms against SARS-CoV-2 with permanent surveillance

Arboviruses and the new coronavirus pandemic are objects of the same attention by the Health System in the eastern Cuban province of Las Tunas, which deploys all its forces to prevent both the spread of dengue and the COVID-19.

Las Tunas.- Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, provincial director of Health in Las Tunas, explained to the Provincial Defense Council that the gears of the sector are decisively facing the elevation of the levels of infestation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the health areas of the Gustavo Aldereguía and Guillermo Tejas polyclinics, both in the provincial capital.

At the same time, she stressed, the territory maintains intact its prevention mechanisms against SARS-CoV-2 with permanent surveillance, active inquiry and real-time PCR tests of suspected cases. At the same time, she said, details such as the adequate flow within the isolation centers, the presence of Health personnel there in accordance with the number of people admitted, as well as the appropriate work-rest rhythm for those working in the red areas of hospital facilities.

This week, in addition, the Ministry of Health (MINSAP) made public the preliminary version of the new National Action Protocol for the COVID-19. Along with the presentation of the main manifestations and clinical forms of the disease, it details how the case management should be according to the age groups, levels of care and transfer. The Protocol, highlighted by MINSAP, was conceived to be implemented in Primary Health Care (PHC) in such a way that it gives continuity to the comprehensive care of the patient in the Health areas.
