Some 100 houses were damaged or completely destroyed

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez today expressed his country's solidarity with the people and government of Ecuador, after the strong earthquake that left 13 dead so far, and material and human damages.

Havana, Cuba.- Cuba's chief diplomat conveys on Twitter his condolences to those affected.

Some 100 houses were damaged or destroyed, as well as other facilities, as a result of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that shook the South American nation the day before.

With its epicenter in the municipality of Balao in the southern coastal province of Guayas, the earthquake was felt in almost half of the country, followed by at least seven aftershocks of magnitudes between 2.6 and 4.6, according to the Ecuadorian Geophysical Institute. (PL)
