The Gastronomy sector maintain its services and implement new modalities

Since the threat of the new coronavirus spread through the national territory, the Gastronomy in Las Tunas adopted strategies to maintain the vitality of its services and bring them closer to the population, especially the most vulnerable, and thus avoid crowds of people that encourage the spread of the epidemic.

Las Tunas, Cuba - Dalgis Inés Pupo Hernández, the main specialist in gastronomy at the Business Trade Group, told 26Digital that the first measure they established was that the 57 restaurants in the province would work at 50 percent of their installed capacity, that is, with a separation of one and a half to two meters between each table, but without affecting the services, since the hours will be extended.

We have enabled 69 centers such as restaurants, pizza parlors, cafeterias with food service, where we are implementing the modalities of takeaway or food delivery, said Dalgis. This is part of a national strategy to confront the COVID-19.

In the case of food delivery, those interested should make the request by phone in the same unit and those who choose the takeaway can go to the main restaurants in the city, with or without containers, because there are cardboard boxes of different formats.

At this time we also have 116 facilities that offer food for the Family Care System (SAF by its Spanish acronym), with about 3,849 clients. So far, more than 1,900 people are receiving food at home. Our intention is that soon this modality will be applied to each member so that they do not need to go out to the streets.
We want to point out that the offers in our units depend on the supplies that the territory has, guaranteeing a main course that can be croquette, hamburger, mince, egg or meat.

The 10 processing centers in the province are kept active to guarantee a stable supply. The main productions are croquettes, fried food, hamburger, meat for shaping and sausages, especially chorizo sausage.

All the establishments of Trade and Gastronomy will continue to produce food and sell it to the people. The ice cream parlors are open, and now that the children and young people must stay at home, the modality of buying ice cream for home is allowed, of course, in a regulated manner, to continue with the premise of sharing, mainly at this time.
The directive reiterated to the population that they must comply with all sanitary measures and the use of masks when entering any gastronomic unit, in order to protect people's health and insisted on the need to maintain hygiene to avoid the proliferation of COVID-19.
