
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, reiterated "our support and solidarity with the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez, its people, and the Bolivarian Government."
The president made this statement by telephone to Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, according to his X social media account.
In the message, Díaz-Canel insisted on Cuba's strong condemnation of the U.S. military aggression and the kidnapping of the constitutional President, Nicolás Maduro, and the first combatant, Cilia Flores, on January 3.
He also conveyed the desire "to continue strengthening the historic relations of brotherhood and cooperation."
For her part, Delcy Rodríguez referred to the conversation with her Cuban counterpart during the first Federal Council of Government of 2026. "I spoke with the President of Cuba, and the first thing he conveyed to me was his heartfelt condolences to the Venezuelan people, family, and friends of our heroes and heroines who died in combat on January 3," she said.
