Moscow has reaffirmed its commitment to providing Havana with ongoing material and political assistance. Following the recent arrival of a Russian oil tanker to alleviate energy shortages caused by U.S. sanctions, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that its support serves as a tangible manifestation of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Moscow confirmed its readiness to continue providing Havana with the material and political assistance it requires, according to information released on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Our country confirms its firm readiness to continue providing the necessary political and material support to Cuba," states the communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, published this Saturday on its Telegram channel.
On March 30, the Russian tanker Anatoly Koldkin, carrying a humanitarian shipment of 100,000 tons of crude oil, arrived at the Port of Matanzas amidst the energy blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
According to the Ministry, the supply of fuel to the Caribbean nation has become a "tangible manifestation of Russian-Cuban friendship."
On January 29, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing for the imposition of tariffs on imports from countries that supply oil to Cuba.
Such actions by Washington have caused a severe fuel shortage in Cuba, impacting electricity generation and vital sectors of the economy, including transportation, food production, health, and education, according to denouncements made by the government in Havana. (CubaSí)
