Inauguration of plants for the production of medicinal oxygen

As of this weekend, the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna general teaching hospital has two plants for the production of medicinal oxygen, which will guarantee constant attention to patients with artificial ventilation, surgeries, and all hospital processes.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The installation was inaugurated by Manuel René Pérez Gallego, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province, who pondered the importance of having total and instantaneous availability of oxygen for patients who need it and recalled the sad days of Covid-19 when the plants producing this component collapsed in the country at the height of the pandemic.

Plants for the production of medicinal oxygen.These two plants, donated by the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, also allow - in addition - to saving about one million pesos every month destined for the transportation of oxygen needed in the "Guevara", and also guarantee an important amount for other hospitals in the province.

The doctor and member of the Cuban Parliament, Marianela Zapata Romero, director of the health care center, referred to what it means to produce oxygen in the same facility, a guarantee for the process of patient care in the different areas in which it is used.

Three adapted houses were also inaugurated in former vectors' premises adjacent to the community of Río Potrero, benefiting single mothers with several children and other needy families. These households have a living room, three bedrooms, a dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and an interior laundry room. One of the beneficiaries is Yadira Pérez Velázquez, a single mother with six children, who expressed her satisfaction at finally having her house, after so long living in difficult conditions with her children.

In front of the railway-bus terminal, the Soda Libre cafeteria, which had been abandoned for years, reopened its doors to the public, as a point of sale of the La Arboleda gastronomic complex, and according to its director, Bárbara Brito Caballero, the facility will provide a varied and quality service for travelers and the inhabitants of the city of Las Tunas.
