Cuban tourist authorities have celebrated the 70th anniversary of the first flight of the Spanish airline Iberia to Cuba, a major event considering the booming tourism in the country.

Havana, Cuba.- Iberia-Cuba flights began on April 21, 1949, considered a milestone at the time.

For more than 60 years, and despite the numerous U.S. sanctions against Cuba, the Spanish company has maintained this destination .

Iberia, from 2015, operates the Madrid-Habana route with daily flights, except Thursdays in two classes, Business and Economy.

Flight hours allow connections with nearly 90 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, favoring tourism and business exchanges on both sides of the Atlantic.

Iberia covers its flights between Havana and Madrid with its most modern aircraft, the Airbus A330/300, twin-engine with capacity for 278 passengers. (PL)
