Havana, Cuba.- Supporting so, the 2017 regulation 585 will allow carrying out a safer food health assessment for human and animal consumption, as well as examining the risks, demonstrating the political will to promote the production of innocuous food, stressed the Cuban Vice Minister of Public Health, Regla Angulo.
To achieve so, several actions are required, such as developing the National Network of Food Analysis Laboratories and measurements of food chain, its processes, products and services, Angulo highlighted today in the event held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Health.
In addition to the aforementioned facts, not only a metrological assurance program is needed to be implemented, but also nutritional systems are compelled to be raised in order to change habits as excessive consumption of sugar, fat and salt, she indicated.
On the other side, the UN representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Cuba, Marcelo Resende, recognized the work of the National Standardization Office and the Ministries of Science, Technology and Environment, Food Industry and Public Health.
World Food Safety Day was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2018 and from this year, every June 7 will be the time to underscore the benefits of safe food. (PL)
