Cayo Santa María, Cuba.- These sites close to Cayo Santa María (Villa Clara), where the fair takes place, are growing with the presentation of Sagua as a tourism destination, a proposal that arouses great expectations among tour operators and travel agents.
This region knew in past centuries the presence of pirates and corsairs, including not many treasure legends hidden in that key area. It is said that Cayo Esquivel hides the booty of pirate Jack Rackhman.
Thirteen kilometers of the coastal town of Isabela de Sagua, it is said that the riches of Calico Jack, called that way because of his brightly-colored clothing, are hidden in that sandy small island.
That English pirate, born in 1682, was hanged in Jamaica in 1720 and on several occasions attacked ships of the Spanish fleet traveling to Europe, from the port of Matanzas, in western Cuba.
But the most valuable treasure in those places is its beauty, and the attraction it represents for those who want active vacations.
Hence, Sagua and Esquivel stand out in the program that FITCuba 2018 (May 2-5) reserves for today. (PL)
