Experts of the meteorological center are in charge of providing weather and climate information

An extensive program of activities develops the Provincial Meteorology Center (CMP) of Las Tunas, on the occasion of the celebration, on October 1, of three decades of its creation as a scientific institution with a high impact on the economy, society, and the environment.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Among the events, meetings with retirees and young generations stand out; ideal moments to learn about the beginnings of the entity that began to provide services with just five workers, and today has a group of 43 men and women.

There will also be special morning sessions, recognition of those who have worked at the Center for more than 15 years, screening of technical documentaries, and other spaces for exchange and debate on climate, weather forecasting, and agrometeorology.

Since its foundation, the CMP has been in charge of providing weather and climate information on the state and future behavior of the atmosphere, which directly contribute to the well-being of the community and sustainable development.

Its daily work is aimed at promoting short, medium, and long-term weather forecasting to ensure the safety of human life and reduce the loss of material goods, in the event of natural disasters of meteorological origin.

Throughout these three decades, the entity has accumulated several scientific and social awards, especially a high percentage of effectiveness in forecasts, thanks to the efforts of its experts and the specialists of the weather stations located in the cities of Puerto Padre and Las Tunas.
