Fernández decided to present her arguments in a live broadcast from her office in the Senate. The lawyers of Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández on Monday presented her defense plea in the so-called "Causa Vialidad" and reiterated the absence of evidence against her, local media reported.

Buenos Aires.- According to Página 12, Carlos Alberto Beraldi and Ariel Llernovoy, representatives of Fernández, who is also the president of the Senate, presented her defense plea at 8:00 hours, local time, and the process will take place this Monday and Tuesday.

Fernández expects to assume her defense before the No. 2 Federal Oral Court on Friday.

On August 22, prosecutor Diego Luciani requested a 12-year prison sentence for the vice president, and her disqualification to hold public office for alleged irregularities in the awarding of 51 public works in Santa Cruz province between 2003 and 2015.

The former head of State denounced the inexistence of evidence and the violations committed in the process, so she requested to extend her statement, but the Court rejected her request.

Given this decision, Fernández decided to present her arguments in a live broadcast from her office in the Senate. (PL)
