Sugar production is planned only at the Majibacoa and Antonio Guiteras factories.

The preparation of the industries and other machinery with a view to the 2022-2023 sugar harvest becomes a titanic task due to how much they must do between the remainder of this month and October, with a high level of internal solutions.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- They undertake the task in the midst of the worst moment of the blockade, with the Cuban economy severely hit by the international economic crisis, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and other internal effects.

Those who sweat blood in each sugar mill and machine shop are not alien f this harsh reality, which prevents the country from having the necessary financial resources to go to the international market.

Thus, the actions implemented to minimize the impact of the lack of pieces, laminates, and other accessories that persists, even when the country put everything it had within reach of the Antonio Guiteras and Majibacoa power plants, the only ones that will produce in the coming campaign.

Rafael Pantaleón Quevedo, Azcuba's delegate in Las Tunas, assures 26 that the major obstacle represented by the blockade, far from breaking the fighting spirit of the sugar growers in Las Tunas, has strengthened it, as well as the links with companies in other sectors.

In his opinion, collaboration commitments were born from this inter-company coordination that makes up a more optimistic work outlook for the present and future of the Sugar Agroindustry. He explained that the Comandante (Paco) Cabrera Metal Structures Company responded positively to the request to assume with its forces and means the reconstruction of 19 trailers and four agricultural implements for the transportation and planting of cane.

Similarly, the Stainless Steel Company (ACINOX Las Tunas) and the Capitolio national railway workshop -based in the town of Delicias-, made the specialized machines available with their respective operators to reinforce the manufacture and recovery of defective spare parts.

In this context, it also highlights the protection provided by the Electric Company to the sugar mills circuits during daytime hours, the entry into the action of brigades of tinkers from the entities that support the sugar sector, and the measures internally adopted based on optimizing the attention to the man and taking advantage of the working day by putting more effort.

For Pantaleón Quevedo, such a communion of efforts becomes a strength in the attempt to reduce as far as possible the effects of the lack of fuel, supplies, and other vital resources to make the most peremptory repairs to the aging industrial machinery.

According to the manager's criteria, Las Tunas is in a good moment to advance steadily towards completing the repairs of the Antonio Guiteras and Majibacoa sugar mills in October; an objective that in the case of "Colombia" will be advanced to the 15th of that month since it will begin the milling in the first days of November, but to produce molasses for the manufacture of rum, alcohol and animal feed in the Amancio Rodríguez Derivatives base business unit.
