The national group Décima al Filo, which has been in existence for 25 years, recently celebrated the event of the same name in Guáimaro, Camagüey (its usual venue), with the participation of writers from Las Tunas, Holguín, and that locality.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Recitals, artistic presentations, parties, and other initiatives made up the program, under the aegis of writer Odalys Leyva Rosabal, originally from Las Tunas. Among those in attendance were poets who have won the Cubalambé Prize (for written décima): Carlos Esquivel, Randoll Machado, Domingo Peña, Agustín Serrano, Miguel Mariano Piñero, Diusmel Machado, and the host of the event herself.
As is tradition, the participants placed a floral offering at the mausoleum of Ana Betancourt, a pioneer of women's rights. There, they read moving words, and the improviser Nelson Lima improvised verses as a tribute.
Likewise, the Writer's House in that region welcomed poets, storytellers, and other creators to enjoy good art. Poetry rounds, stories by Omelio Herrera, guarachas by Randoll Machado, and musical accompaniment by the group Vaqueros del blanquizal were among the proposals shared.

The Guáimaro Cultural Center also hosted several initiatives to the delight of the participants. Readings of texts, the presentation of Solo de Poesía (a promotional leaflet for the Cultura y Tuneridad project), and an introduction to books by different authors, as well as fun parties, completed the excitement of the event. We also included some local projects, such as the Marabú and Aires de México brotherhoods.
This edition of the event was dedicated to the writers Agustín Serrano (Holguín) and Olivia Casanova (Camagüey), who are leaving their mark on the literary world.
Odalys Leyva, who chairs the national group Décima al Filo, expressed her gratitude to the creators and institutions of Las Tunas, who in one way or another participate in or encourage this event, in defense of Cuba's national verse form.
