From September 23 to 30, our region is hosting a wide range of activities to celebrate the city's anniversary. Informal gatherings, contests, exhibitions, discussion groups, and concerts make up an extensive program that extends to various cultural institutions and other venues.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- As part of this agenda —and also the Provincial Concert Event— instrumentalists and ensembles specializing in this musical style are actively participating. This Thursday, for instance, the headquarters of the Provincial Committee of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) hosted a performance by concert masters Argibaldo Acebo and Ramón Carlos Leyva, followed by a performance from the Isaac Nicola Guitar Orchestra, a group of great national renown.

In this context, the latter ensemble presented technically demanding pieces "not everyone plays," as Elvira Skourtis acknowledged to 26. She is a master of this musical form and also presides over the Music Branch of this artistic organization. As the beloved and unforgettable Juan Francisco Borges —one of the figures honored by this event— used to say: "The Concert Series is a showcase that highlights artistic talent."

"This particular event is often associated with state-subsidized music; however, groups that do not necessarily perform within that classical tradition also appear, yet they demonstrate outstanding ability—such as the groups Eclipse and Primer Espacio." "It is an opportunity for us to come together, share the stage, and champion our music—something we must never lose sight of."

Also, part of the Las Tunas Cultural Day are the openings of noteworthy exhibitions: Despertar apocalíptico (Apocalyptic Awakening) by Luis García Hidalgo, at the UNEAC gallery; and Tejiendo una travesía de amor (Weaving a Journey of Love) by young artisan Rut Morales Rodríguez, on display at the Tomasa Varona House of Culture.

Additionally, significant theoretical events are being held, like the one honoring Antonio Borrego at the Nicolás Guillén Foundation headquarters, organized by the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Portus Patris Literary Event. Prominent authors —including Marina Lourdes Jacobo, Argel Fernández Granado, and Lucy Maestre— shared anecdotes and insights about the author of Discurso de un hombre solo (Speech of a Solitary Man), who is considered the most popular poet of his generation here.
