Poets in Parallel Intercultural Project

The young writer from Las Tunas Alexander Jiménez del Toro participates in the artistic Project “Poetas en Paralelo. Poesía y Comunidad” (Poets in Parallel. Poetry and Community), created by the CubEArt Association and the Milan Poetry House, in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute of that city and the Cuban Book Institute.

Young writer from Las Tunas Alexander Jiménez del ToroLas Tunas, Cuba.- A total of 60 prestigious rhapsodies from Cuba, Italy and Spain are included in the program, which consists of poetic recitals, debates on literary work, and cultural interconnection, among other initiatives socialized on the Internet from March 20 to 25, during the Poetry Week.

According to the author of the poetry book País mental, writer Giselle Lucía Navarro, head of the Literature Section of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) at the national level, was in charge of selecting the participants from the Cuban side, being he the only one representative of Las Tunas this time.

"I am very happy to be part of the project, not only for sharing my work with great writers but for representing my province in an event of this magnitude," said who recently participated in the Mangle Rojo meeting of young writers, on the Isle of Youth.

“Poetry is a way to find me. Many times it comes from the subconscious and reflects a state of mind, a thought, a story, an idea, your worldview ... And one is surprised by what one writes and discovers oneself. It is also a way of escape and exorcism,” the young man, winner of the Pinos Nuevos, Toda luz y Toda mía awards, among others, said.

For Alexander, it is a new window that opens to the world. It is enough to illustrate the importance of the project to say that, among the 25 participating Cubans, there are names such as Delfín Prats, Virgilio López Lemus, Alexander Besú, Alex Pausides, Karel Leyva, Teresa Melo, and other prominent intellectuals.

The organizers intend to extend “Poets in Parallel” until the end of 2022, to promote cultural exchange and show poetry for what it is: a high and fine expression of human feelings.

Meanwhile, Jiménez del Toro works on a book entitled Salmos en el Desierto (Psalms in the Desert), which has him excited. The most recent of his dreams materialized was the novel Casa Roja (Red House), co-authored with Raúl Leyva Pupo, available on the Amazon platform, which they later intend to publish in Cuba.
