Face-to-face events are suspended

The COVID-19 pandemic once again forces to readjust the programming of cultural events in Las Tunas, moving all activities to cyberspace from now on, as Darlenis Urquiola Guerrero, provincial deputy director of Culture, has announced.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Urquiola Guerrero said the decision was made taking into account the increase in positive cases to COVID-19 in the territory. For this reason, although until now the actions of the sector were carried out mostly virtual and in some cases with a little audience, the semi face-to-face events are suspended until further notice, which will move to the Internet to protect the collective health.

Face-to-face events are suspended The Cucalambeana Fiesta, which will take place between June 28 and July 1, will be completely online, but the public can enjoy the Supreme Party of the Cuban Peasant through the Internet and some television programs, like Palmas y Cañas. The national “Clave” and local TunasVisión channels will also reflect a good part of the event, and the main gala is among the activities to be broadcasted.

The agenda planned for the summer will also be tempered by the epidemiological situation, seeking alternatives for viewers to receive their portion of entertainment and culture through their televisions, mobile phones, and other technological support.

This strategy is joined by all the institutions belonging to the sector, i.e. the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the Provincial Committee of National Union of Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, the Municipal Directorate of Culture, and others. These are necessary changes in times when life continues to be the top priority.
