Fernando Buen Abad gave a master lecture on the inaugural day of the Scientific Convention

Nothing is fortuitous at the University of Las Tunas, there is a great desire to materialize each dream, commitment, strategy... And that is where the steps of managers, workers, and students walk.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The 4th International Scientific Convention and the 3rd Expo Fair are an expression of that will and, specifically, of the wish that scientific knowledge does not remain inside the enclosure but is incorporated into the social future, beyond the contribution derived from each graduation of new professionals.

"As President Díaz-Canel has said on several occasions, the knowledge that is born in the Academy is key in the implementation of the government management system, having science and innovation as fundamental pillars," the Dr. of Sciences Yithsell Santiesteban Almaguer, the vice-president of the Organizing Committee of the event, highlighted at the inaugural conference.

On that first day of activities, led by the philosopher and communication professor Fernando Buen Abad, those present learned about the ins and outs of the ideological and communicational machinery of Capitalism; as well as the consequences of media domination in the world and, in particular, in Latin America and the Caribbean.

From the Center for Information and Communication of the National University of Lanús (Argentina), where research is carried out in favor of "a new world order of information and communication", the communicologist pointed out that these institutions have a lot to contribute, based on the analysis of reality, in the creation of a liberating proposal against the commercial model of a single notion of the world.

For the also semiotician born in Mexico, it is evident that "we have been defeated more by media deceit than by force", and the next scenario of war dispute is the minds of the people. "The ideological war has been very efficient, and we did not manage to have enough methodologies, nor laboratories for the semiotic struggle. We are not building a continental current of semiotics for emancipation," he maintained in his speech.

On the other hand, the urgency of strengthening the connections between the knowledge sector and the production of goods and services was discussed at the Academic, Economic, and Business Debate Forum. This space of the Convention began with the dissertation of Dr. in Sciences Alberni Poulot Cumbá, who presented the strategy of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, in pursuit of making the Knowledge Economy a motor for the development of this unit, the University, and society, in general. In this regard, Dr. In Sciences Yithsell Santiesteban had previously highlighted the links, for example, with the Stainless Steel Company (ACINOX Las Tunas), where the Integrated Sciences Workshop took place.

In this scenario, businessmen from different spheres and forms of economic management exchanged about their links with this center of Cuban Higher Education (the University has close to 50 agreements with entities and companies in the territory), and how much more can be done for the benefit of a relationship that is a priority of the Cuban State and Government.

During the last day of the 4th International Scientific Convention and the 3rd Expo Fair 2023, the Las Tunas University presented its Scientific-Technical Services Portfolio with products of exportable potential such as postgraduate courses, consultancies, diplomas, internships, and projects.

On the 28th anniversary of its founding, the University of Las Tunas delves into its potential, it is known that there are forces to contribute more to the development of the province and the country; thus, they act accordingly and aspire to higher results.
