On the way to the 12th Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC), the militancy at Las Tunas University is projected to forge "a better youth, the youth Cuba needs."

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The delegates to the 12th Assembly Congress spoke about essences, sleeplessness, disagreements, concerns, and commitments, in a day in which their character was reaffirmed revolutionary, patriotic, and anti-imperialist.

After meetings in the 44 grassroots organizations, and later in the primary committees of the five faculties, the militancy reflected and debated about how to improve the internal life, the structures, and the work of the organization; in addition to bringing it closer to the other youngsters, so that it strengthens its leadership and influence, based on the exemplarity of its members.

Matters related to the activism of the militants in university life, the schematism in the meetings of the base committees, the planning of activities, and the little interest of the militancy and the student body; as well as, the use of the scientific potential of the Youth Technical Brigades (BTJ), and the possibilities offered by the award exams and other provisions of the Ministry of Education, and the purpose of uniting and mobilizing young people around the imperatives of the country, were discussed in the assembly.

The central report highlighted, in the common horizon of giving the best of all, that militants participated in the work in the isolation centers on the Lenin campus and at the headquarters, the attention to vulnerable communities and families, the debates before the referendum on the Family Code, and the electoral process in its various stages.

The analysis was frank and nutritious, in which everyone agreed that the UJC's largest and most transcendental mobilizing force is the grassroots committee, whose members have in their hands the ability to transform realities, methods, conceptions, and behaviors.

"Who is responsible for the change? How to put into practice what is stated in the Strengthening Strategy of the UJC? Us. It all starts because we are the first to transform our ways of doing and acting. It is up to us to imbue it with dynamism, have leadership, and do things well in each space of participation. That is the key," Luis Alejandro Aguilera Lora, president of the UJC Committee in the institution highlighted in the central report, who was re-elected in that responsibility.
