
The Minister of Education, Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto, began her visit to Las Tunas in the municipality of Majibacoa, as part of a tour that will take her to various Cuban provinces to verify, along with her team, the preparations for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Accompanied by Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), and sector leaders in the province, the minister toured the Eliecer Botello elementary school, which will serve as a semi-boarding school from next September. She spoke with the workers and inquired about the quality and relevance of the approximately three million peso investment being made on the premises to complete the kitchen, dining room, warehouse, and other necessary spaces.

She also visited the José Martí Provincial Pioneer Palace, a center celebrating its 40th anniversary and undergoing a revitalization process made possible with the support of various local organizations. The health, commercial, gastronomic, and agricultural facilities have been remodeled; at the same time, vocational guidance services and interest circles for the electric, dairy, and fishing companies are now being offered.
The minister and her companions also toured the Home for Children without Parental Care (0 to 6 years old). There, they were greeted by the smiles of the children and the cheerful accomplice of the working team, while learned about new options for the comfort and happiness of the little ones.
The trip concluded with a meeting where ideas such as the need to approach this teaching calendar "with concrete plans, rather than diagnoses of what needs to be done" emerged. It was stated that this school year "is unlike any other," so communicating, exchanging with humility, and constantly nourishing from the family and its arguments is essential.

The head of Education offered heartfelt thanks to those who work in such a demanding sector, acknowledged that there are significant obstacles, and assured that solutions are being sought to reward the teachers who take on the tasks of several others and those who make the greatest effort in educating the new generations.
For her part, Yuniaski Crespo Vaquero, head of the Social Welfare Department of the PCC Central Committee, called that it is the policy of the Revolution to prioritize the country’s educational system and said that this school year will be dedicated to the centennial of Fidel Castro, an example and commitment to walk the path together and address every challenge of the current context.
