New train passenger service in Las Tunas

Las Tunas Railroads base business unit (UEB) has begun to provide a new passenger transportation service, with a train that covers the route between the southern municipality of Colombia and Bayamo, the capital of the neighboring province of Granma.

José Quesada Sánchez, head of the entity's commercial group, reported that the recovery of a motor car with a trailer in the territory's workshops made this new itinerary possible.

The train will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The departure time will be at 4:11 am, from the Santa Lucía station, on a route that passes through Jobabo, arriving at Bayamo at 7:35 am.

Upon its return from Monument City, Quesada Sánchez said, the rail vehicle will arrive at the city of Las Tunas, to leave at 3:45 in the afternoon to "Colombia", where its journey ends.

“The transfer of passengers from Las Tunas to Chaparra, via Omaja, was recently resumed; on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and the urban train in the provincial capital remains stable,” the official added.

“The train that goes from this province to Ciego de Ávila also continues to travel, and another motor car with a trailer is being repaired for, through the CARDINAL Provincial Transport Company, start with two daily trips to the municipality of Manatí.”
