Through social media, 26 learned that the province of Las Tunas was among Cuba’s outstanding provinces for its environmental results in 2022.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Gisela Valentina Olano Felipe, delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in this eastern territory announced that on her Facebook wall while congratulating all the workers that make up the different dependencies of its management.
The achievements are many. Among them, more than 70 actions in the Life Task that involved 21 organizations and entities of the territory, having achieved the certification of 16 agroecological farms, and the Hermanos Velázquez as a pioneer of the sustainable land management program.

The provincial group to combat desertification and drought was reactivated, work is being done to combat this issue in the municipality of Manatí, and in the Cinturón Forestal mega-project -on the north coast of the territory-, and the high-water consumers' organisms are very well identified.
Work has also been done on the early warning system through the Provincial Meteorological Center, to deal with different weather situations, with forecasts that reach effectiveness above 93 percent; besides, the provincial biological diversity program met more than 20 goals concerning its implementation and control.
The Provincial Environmental Education Program for the sustainable development of the territory was also updated and implemented, with environmental education activities projected to comply.
At the same time, the efforts to confront indiscipline and illegality in forest resources have been commendable; reefs and mangroves in protected areas are monitored, in addition to actions regarding polluting sources.
The National Act for June 5 will be held in the province of Cienfuegos, and the territories of Ciego de Ávila and Granma were also selected as outstanding.
