After quality repairs and starting the sugarcane cuts yesterday, the stage is set for the Majibacoa sugar mill to start the milling on Friday.

 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Alberto Escalona Ramírez, head of harvest in the municipality of the same name, said that the bulk of the 41 combine harvesters, 59 trucks, macheteros, train crews and reception centers in charge for guarantee the daily task of cutting, load and transport more than six thousand tons of cane.

He explained that during the 141 days scheduled for the 2019-2020 harvest, the sugarmill will process, in addition to its own cane, another 347 thousand tons from the "Grito de Yara" – belonging to the neighboring province of Granma -, and the municipalities of Manatí and Jesús Menéndez.

As usual, the opening and subsequent development of the sugar harvest in Majibacoa are characterized by the enthusiasm, combativeness and willingness to succeed of those who execute it. Hence Alberto's confidence that the suppliers will meet the objective of having on the cars and railway wagons the necessary raw material for the industry to start up its milling machinery.

Meanwhile, in the Colombia and Antonio Guiteras sugar mills, workers speed up efforts with a view to advancing the start date of the milling season.
