Havana.- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said Friday that his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) gave "a master class in history and proved his courage to defend the island."

López Obrador reiterated that the Cuban island represents a people that has known like few in the world how to be faithful to its historical continuity and assert its right to live free, without allowing interference from any foreign power.

"For its struggle in defense of sovereignty, the people of Cuba deserve the prize of dignity and the island should be recognized as the new Numantia for its example of resistance, and I think that for that very reason it should be declared a world heritage site," he said.

In his speech, Díaz-Canel pointed out that this invitation to Mexico "has an immeasurably greater value at a time when we are suffering the onslaught of a multidimensional war."

Also on his Twitter account, the Cuban leader highlighted the "emotional meeting with the Mexican solidarity movement with Cuba", as well as the dialogue with friends in solidarity with that nation.
