Biomedical engineer Analicia Filgueiras Hernández.

Among measurements, projections, and an immense capacity to dream, where many people's imagination is restricted, Analicia Filgueiras Hernández sprouts passions in a profession with no margin to everyday life.

Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- The biomedical engineer, together with the other members of the Committee of Innovators and Rationalizers (CIR) at the Dr. Guillermo Domínguez López General Teaching Hospital in Puerto Padre, is a source of light in times of scarce resources; hence the virtuosity of finding solutions based on affordable elements.

From an early age, Analicia, with absolute certainty, knew the direction of her steps in life. "I always liked the area of mathematics and physics. I saw the option of a career that related medicine and engineering in unison, and I opted for it, then, when I started studying, I liked it much more."

Asking her about how much he enjoys what he does is unnecessary, it is enough to be an accomplice of the happiness he shows through his eyes. Like a fish in water, he dives between instruments, with the challenge of turning an idea into reality, or in other words, facilitating the sanitary procedure.

"I have only been working for a few years and being in a place where I learn something new every day, especially about electromedicine specifically, makes me feel very satisfied with the profession I practice. Since I started working I have been in this group, which from the beginning opened doors for me and has always taught me a little bit more."

"It's a very fascinating world. I enjoy innovation. During the covid-19 stage, it was a source of great pride to know that we electromedical doctors were able to make innovations that made it possible to give more oxygen to patients, because from the same outlet we were able to provide oxygen for two people, thus increasing the capacity of pulmonary ventilators."

The pitfalls, perennially, have been part of the horizon; however, she wears the armor of spirit to impose herself on destiny. Fears continue to linger on, and Filgueiras Hernández barely blinks at them.

"In addition to being an engineer, I am also a mother and disabled. Since I was a little girl, I have faced any obstacle that stands in the way of my development and I have never been afraid of who I am. So far none of that has made anything impossible for me. My colleagues help me with everything I need and my disability has never been a hindrance to my development."

"In the future, I want to continue learning about engineering, even more so as a woman because, despite the existing equality in society, we must be realistic, in this profession women face more difficulties than men, but that cannot be a reason to stop us."

Although the deterioration can be seen in all directions, from a small local, men and women of boundless ingenuity signify the pulsations of the medical giant of Villa Azul. Analicia's face is among the unsung heroes, who take on the mission of maintaining the usefulness of equipment that has been in use for a long time.
