As part of the transformations in the hospital centers of the province, in search of better provision of services to the population and greater satisfaction and preparation for the health personnel, a Technological Laboratory classroom was equipped at the Mártires de Las Tunas Pediatric Hospital for the training of nursing professionals.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Yoanis Diéguez Pérez, head of the Section, commented to the press that this laboratory is an old desire and has settled for what is essential to increase the skill and precision of care work.

The place will serve the recent graduates of the Basic Nursing Course to expose and socialize the knowledge acquired in different hospital positions, an essential process to guarantee that knowledge and the best practices are spread among the new generations and polished by experience.

The representative of this discipline in Las Tunas assured that the classroom will promote these and other activities also linked to knowledge and respect for the history of the profession, from Florence Nightingale to its evolution in current Cuban Nursing.

She commented that the space will be the stage for self-improvement exercises, master conferences, and presentations of cases in pursuit of greater competitiveness and efficiency of the staff.

Mariela Sprit Díaz, the coordinator of the basic courses at the University of Medical Sciences, told the local radio station her satisfaction with the spirit of the medical personnel and the desire for improvement of the young people who come to the profession, aware of their importance in the best development of Public Health.

The new teaching space bears the name of Isabel Benedicta Vázquez Espinosa, a prominent nurse who dedicated more than 40 years to healthcare in the center itself and outside Cuba, in nations such as Haiti and Venezuela.
