Two companies from Las Tunas signed contracts with a Canadian investor

Two companies from this eastern Cuban province made official this Thursday their alliance with a Canadian investor to place their products in foreign markets, thus materializing what is perhaps the most anticipated event of the Industry and Commerce Fair that between Tuesday and Friday was held at Las Palmeras theme park.

The companies Integral Agricultural (AGROINT) and Pesquera Las Tunas (PESCATUN) signed, respectively, a contract for the consignment of products and raw materials; and a strategic alliance with the businessman from the nation of the maple leaf. Those agreements will allow them, at this early stage, to place their products on e-commerce platforms that operate in freely convertible currency. If these operations are successful, both entities would be in a better position to expand their production capacities and, eventually, to increase the quality and quantity of their offers in national currency.

"We hope that everything flows smoothly and that both parties can receive the best results from the business that we officially signed," said Alberto González Hernández, general director of Agroint, a company that has just established itself as an exporter-importer -opening an extremely promising for the health of the economy of the Balcón del Oriente Cubano (Eastern Cuban Balcony).

PESCATUN, for its part, scales to a higher stage on its way to take its products to digital environments that operate in hard currency, said its owner Denia Castillo Maillo. The directive clarified that allocating part of its merchandise to the places that are quoted in foreign currency does not harm its commitments with the internal market. On the contrary, she clarified, that income will allow them to invest in improving their infrastructure and, especially, the working and living conditions of their workers.

The Fair also hosted a working meeting between representatives of the local business community, experts from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, entities associated with shipping-port operations, and foreign investors. In the exchange, they considered the most feasible option to provide Puerto Carúpano, in the Puerto Padre bay, with the lifting equipment that puts it in a position to expand its current cargo transfer capacities of various types. If this purpose is successful, import and export costs would be substantially lowered for economic actors from Las Tunas and the rest of the eastern Cuban region.

In the commercial forum, the exploratory conversations between the attending businessmen continued; while the local Delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) held a solidarity meeting dedicated to Liber Walter Arce Risotto, the first student martyr of Uruguay, which was attended by representatives of the South American nation and Canada.

There was also a bartender competition sponsored by the branch of the extra hotel chain Palmares, the private company El Caché and Tecnoazúcar, with Sevilla rum as the leading product on its return to the market.
