LUDEMA Furniture improves its work in terms of labor protection

Guided by the motto "Let's save, fires are avoidable," the National Fire Protection Week began at the LUDEMA Furniture base business unit (UEB).

Rosell Rodríguez Uliver, a Security and Protection specialist, explained that they have all the conditions created to prepare workers and avoid violations in terms of protection and safety measures at work.

"In the workshops, there are informational murals that teach the prevention measures, and the workers have the power to turn off the equipment if necessary. We also have eight brigades in the unit, prepared by the firefighters, who trained them in their role to put out the start of a fire until the arrival of the experts, which should take 0.15 to 0.25 minutes, to deal with a large-scale fire."

The main objective of these actions is to protect lives and raw materials in the productive unit, therefore, training sessions will never be enough.

At the meeting, the highest authorities of the Fire Department and the Central Union of Cuban Workers recognized the most outstanding companies in fire safety management in the province; entities that have managed to maintain and improve their work in terms of labor protection, such as ETECSA, CUPET, the Power Company, ACINOX Las Tunas, and the most outstanding during the period, LUDEMA Furniture.

The Fire Protection Week, between May 15 and 21, in its 57th edition, pays tribute to the first great tragedy in the history of the Fire Departments in Cuba, which occurred at the Isasi Ironmongery in Old Havana. Thirty-six people died in all, mostly firefighters. The disaster gave rise to the emergence of preventive prophylactic activity in the country, which is why this date is chosen as a reference.
