Las Tunas stands out on José Martí studies.

The province of Las Tunas once again demonstrated its commitment to the legacy of José Martí, by obtaining three of the awards given in the 47th edition of the National Seminar on José Martí Studies, held in Havana.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The event had the participation of young people, adolescents, and children, who presented research papers, pedagogical experiences, exhibitions, drawings, poetry, and music in seven different commissions.

The young Emmanuel Aguilar Reynosa from Las Tunas, from the Middle School Students Federation commission, was awarded for his work José Martí and the second independence of America. The doctor of Medicine Julio Antonio Esquivel Tamayo was also awarded for his work on the validity of Marti's thought in family medicine and its improvement in Las Tunas; as well as the art instructor Yennys López Quiñones with her project Descolonizarte (To Decolonize You).

During the event, this province was recognized as one of the most outstanding in the national seminars on José Martí studies, which promote critical thinking and love for the Homeland in the new generations.

In this edition, the importance of Martí's education for the formation of critical citizens who are committed to their country was highlighted.

During the closing of the 47th edition, the call for the 48th National Seminar on José Martí Studies was announced, to be held in 2024, and the campaign for the 35th anniversary of the José Martí Youth Movement began, which will be celebrated next January 28, under the motto "Join us".
