BANDEC promotes digital literacy in Las Tunas.

Involving the various economic actors in Las Tunas and promoting the use of digital platforms through payment gateways are unavoidable tasks that are part of the daily work in the branches of the Credit and Commerce Bank (BANDEC, by its acronym in Spanish) in the province.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The training of individuals, technology fairs, and the reorganization of banking services make digital literacy possible for customers in the eight municipalities through a global process that involves not only BANDEC but also other organizations and companies with a direct impact on the local and national economy.

Yuslaidys Ávila Puig, a specialist in electronic banking, told the Cuban News Agency that the benefits of these practices include better control, inclusion, and organization of transactions and personal income, as well as that of state and private companies, thanks to financial education, a process that has been underway for several years.

The objective is not for the user to charge with a magnetic card and immediately have to withdraw cash, on the contrary, it is to create the basis for obtaining as many inputs and services as possible digitally, said Ávila Puig.

There is a training schedule that allows us to reach self-employed workers, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), state entities, and political and mass organizations, which enables us to advance in services such as the delivery of cards through direct debit payrolls, said Rodolfo León Jiménez, a specialist in Communication and Marketing.

To date, more than 300 entities benefit their workers with the benefits provided by Bandec, and some 1,100 economic actors have become customers who have benefited from the banking benefits in commercial and financial operations, figures that make the channels for carrying out more than 526,000 operations in Mobile Banking viable.

The use of electronic payment channels seeks to dynamize services and the acquisition of products instead of using paper money, which, although it does not mean eliminating cash, is a mechanism to promote the use of digital transactions inclusively and effectively through Transfermóvil and EnZona.
