Electric tricycles provide local transportation in "Colombia" and "Amancio."

Ten new electric tricycles embellish the streets of the southern municipalities of "Amancio" and "Colombia." In a moving ceremony attended by residents of both towns, this service was inaugurated, as part of the activities taking place in the province to celebrate July 26th.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- With the presence of the highest authorities of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), the Government, and Transportation in Las Tunas, five vehicles were officially put into operation in each territory, which must make between 12 and 15 trips daily along established routes.

Reynaldo Reyes Silva, the provincial sector delegate, told 26 that "This is a continuation of the processes recently evaluated by the National Assembly of the People's Power (ANPP), as a summary of the high level of oversight of the Ministry of Transportation. Our goal is to continue increasing cargo capacity and providing the quality service the people deserve."

The arrival of these transport means represents a starting point for improvements in passenger mobility in these municipalities. Reyes Silva stated that "The public transportation capacity is increased by more than 300 people per day, as these are completely new vehicles and their technical exposure coefficient will always be above 90 percent."

"We can say that Las Tunas is a province with good technical availability of electric tricycles. Three municipalities have this service: the capital, with 20, and 10 in these southern territories."

One of the concerns raised by the opening of the service is compliance with the established charging time to ensure the means' care and durability. The transport representative explained that mechanisms are in place to ensure the eight-hour charging time is met, as long as the country's energy availability allows. Furthermore, there is the necessary infrastructure to park them.

"This represents a significant change in our municipality," said driver Yoel Yera. "I was previously a driver, I had my driver's license, and I applied for this position. The due diligence was conducted, and they told me I was qualified to perform it."

The joy of the population in these territories is evident; electric tricycles improve their welfare. It is also another victory for the transportation sector in Las Tunas.
