Digital televisión will improve as the result of collaboration with the People's Republic of China.

The Las Tunas division of the Radiocuba company has begun an investment process to continue the rollout of digital terrestrial television (DTT) with the arrival of new high-tech equipment, the result of collaboration with the People's Republic of China, which represents a significant advance in the quality and range of the television signal for the people of Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Engineer Luis Sierra Santiesteban, the director, said that four new services will be installed: one in Manatí, another in Vázquez (Puerto Padre), one here, in the provincial capital, and one in ‘Colombia’. He emphasized that, except for the capital, these locations will add a high-definition (HD) signal to the standard-definition (SD) services that are already available.

The largest project is located at the television center in the city of Las Tunas. "We are planning for provincial coverage. It is a more powerful transmitter; it is on a taller tower and, of course, the signal travels further.“
This new transmitter will cover rural areas where the digital signal is currently weak or non-existent; thus, a significant number of inhabitants will benefit. ”We believe it should reach places where digital television does not currently," he said.

The executive explained that they are in the process of reviewing and classifying the received equipment, which will soon be followed by installation, according to a schedule approved by the local authorities, intended to speed up the process for the common good.

Cuba has made progress in recent years in installing digital television transmitters. However, economic difficulties have hindered the availability of digital-only or hybrid television receivers, as well as decoder boxes, for the population.

A “GIFT” FOR THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY

This investment is part of the celebration of the Radiocuba 30th anniversary, which will be marked on October 1. Sierra Santiesteban described it as additional motivation and a challenge for his workers. “Thirty years of work, of effort, of bringing the message of the Revolution to the people... The work associated with this investment is part of that milestone anniversary. We are like children with a new toy,” he said with satisfaction.

He recalled that the last investment of this type was before the COVID-19 pandemic, which temporarily paralyzed the project. The new equipment, which is part of a donation from the People's Republic of China, commits the company to carrying out the installation with the utmost technical rigor and in compliance with the required international standards.

“We have the same love that we put into this company when it was created by the leadership of the Revolution, to bring radio and television signals with greater range and higher quality to our people,” concluded the director, paying tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz as the ideologist behind the idea that these signals should serve to bring culture, entertainment, and values education to all the people.
