The 17th National Internal Control Audit is underway, from September 15, in six units of the agricultural sector in Las Tunas to evaluate the functioning of local agricultural systems and the performance of the socialist state-owned enterprise, as well as to ensure compliance with the Law on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The process, which will run until October 31, involves comptrollers, auditors, experts from the Territorial Office of Standardization, and university students from different fields such as economics, accounting, agronomy, and law.
According to Alcides Aguilar Carrazana, delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture in the territory, on this occasion, the provincial storage company, which is responsible for contracting with producers and self-employed workers, is being visited. “It is also responsible for serving some 100 points of sale and markets, guaranteeing social consumption, and controlling the self-supply program with information derived from the communities, which are basic aspects for it to once again play a leading role in supplying the people.”
The exercise also covers the agro-industrial companies in the municipalities of Jesús Menéndez, Las Tunas, Majibacoa, and Colombia, which previously had a different structure, with serious economic and financial difficulties and no possibility of applying for loans. "They also had no access to investment, limited technical capacity, and were barely able to provide services to the productive bases. That is why it is a challenge for the four entities to perform better in the 15 production indicators and the six support programs for the implementation of food sovereignty."
Aguilar Carrazana added that the non-state sector is represented by the medium-sized company Mercasa, which has working agreements with the municipal agro-industrial company and stands out for its productive record, especially in the planting and marketing of vegetables.
In addition to the entities already mentioned, the Administrative Council of the capital territory will be evaluated in relation to the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Commission and other aspects of its link to agricultural activity.
Better management of the units receiving the 17th National Internal Control Audit can influence food production for the people through the implementation of various programs and the quality of contracting and marketing that respond to the demands of the people of Las Tunas.
