4th National Exercise to Prevent and Combat Crime

Several monitoring and control actions are underway in Las Tunas since last Monday as part of the 4th National Exercise to prevent and combat crime, corruption, drugs, illegal activities, and social indiscipline.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– “This time, the priority is to combat abusive and speculative prices, as well as everything related to the banking process, especially the use of payment channels,” said Fidel Gordo Escobar, Coordinator of Programs and Objectives for the Provincial Government.

He added that, in the eight municipalities, work is also being done to prevent theft and slaughter of large livestock, with an emphasis on the measures adopted, both in the agricultural sector and by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).

Gordo Escobar emphasized that the involvement of different organizations is crucial; for example, the provincial labor department exchanges with laid-off youth and holds job fairs, while the National Tax Administration Office assesses tax collection and evasion, among other aspects.

The official pointed out that, during the week, the collection of fines is expedited, those sanctioned are monitored, and health and land-use inspections are held. Besides, an exemplary trial is scheduled for this Friday in the Provincial People's Court.

Regarding the first days, he explained that forced sales, seizures of various products, and analyses of economic actors who have closed their businesses during the Exercise were carried out, which is designed to reduce the threats that harm citizens' daily lives.
