The rural community of San Alberto, in the municipality of Amancio, could become the largest agricultural production pole in this southern territory, as it covers some 200 hectares and could reach 300 in the long term.
Amancio, Las Tunas.- The Hernán González and Alipio Carrillo credit and service cooperatives, the César Suárez basic cooperative production unit (UBPC in Spanish), and a branch of the Youth Labor Army (EJT, in Spanish) are based there, where there are fertile soils and moisture because of their closeness to the Sevilla diversion.
The first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in Las Tunas, Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, spoke with some workers and toured areas planted with cassava, a crop with excellent yields because it adapts well to the soil and climate conditions of the territory.

During the conversation, he learned about the workers' efforts to incorporate new areas, which will increase harvests and allow for more sales to residents in the area and during agricultural fairs, in addition to guaranteeing social consumption.
Among the topics discussed was the importance of staggered planting of the tuber to have year-round production, which would result in higher incomes for the workers and farmers involved in the different processes.
The strategy for completing the planting of up to 217 hectares was organized in three stages dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, International Workers' Day, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
As part of his work system, which prioritizes the evaluation of food production in the field, Lorenzo Rodríguez also visited the municipality of Colombia, where he visited the UBPCs of the same name and La Conchita, as well as areas belonging to the usufructuary Gonzalo Segurola Rodríguez.
