
The Provincial Maintenance and Construction Company (EMAC) accelerated the implementation of its Disaster Prevention Plan following the decree of the hurricane alert phase for the territories from Camagüey to Guantánamo.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Pablo Enrique Paneque Almaguer, general director of this entity, told 26 that, based on the instructions of the Provincial Defense Council and the experience gained from meteorological events that have hit the territory in previous years, all resources were safeguarded.
"We protected the warehouses against possible flooding or roof loss. All materials that were on site were collected. In addition, management positions and members of the Provincial Defense Council's Construction Subgroup were activated."
"Among our missions as construction workers is the cleaning and unclogging of the sewers and ditches at the entrance to the city before the heavy rains begin."
