The Chief of the Civil Defense visited Las Tunas.

Division General Ramón Pardo Guerra, Chief of the Civil Defense General Staff, stopped in this city on his way to Holguín to assess the recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– The Chief of the Civil Defense met with residents of Las Tunas. Accompanied by the province's main political and governmental authorities, as well as Walter Baluja García, Minister of Higher Education, and Marydé Fernández López, Deputy Head of the Ideological Department of the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, the general spoke with residents, listened to their concerns, and called for intensified efforts.

The Chief of the Civil Defense visited Las Tunas.The visit included the work being carried out by the Las Tunas Agroforestry Company to remove fallen trees around the pediatric hospital and one obstructing the urban train line, also at the intersection of Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue and 39th Street, in the Alturas de Buena Vista neighborhood.

In these and other nearby areas, units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) are working tirelessly on cleanup efforts, while specialists are addressing the damage to power lines, poles, and the fiber optic wire.

Pardo Guerra also visited the extension of Gonzalo de Quesada Street, where fallen trees damaged electrical wiring, and residents are gradually recovering while work continues to repair the damage.
