The Las Tunas’ Construction and Assembly Company (Conalza) plays a fundamental role in recovery efforts following severe weather events. Last year, workers from this company traveled to Imías, Guantánamo, to rebuild everything that Hurricane Oscar had devastated.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– In 2025, they are doing the same here, in their own province. Maikel Brito, ConAlza general manager, said: "Here we have managed to move 1,640 cubic meters of debris with well-organized efforts, deploying our teams and workers on two simultaneous work fronts.
"The first response team, with a fleet of trucks and heavy machinery, was assigned to the neighborhoods of Club Familiar, Las Margaritas, Finlay Avenue, Los Pinos, and Río Potrero. In this area, the priority was the collection and removal of rubble."
"At the same time, a second contingent worked on a vital stretch of road from the Oro Negro fuel service station to the La Victoria roundabout, later extending their efforts toward the Aguilera neighborhood," he concluded.
To expedite the recovery, the company is using three loaders and eight dump trucks that have been making continuous trips, and cranes to assist with tree trimming. The work continues into the night, the manager noted, demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of the "men in white helmets."
